Update: This project has been completed (2019)

There is an urgent need for safe and sustainable cooking facilities at the Vocational Training Centre for former street girls in Kumasi. The current kitchen area is too small and unsafe. Cooking for the group of about 40 girls and their tutors is currently done on little stoves, using wood or charcoal. This is bad for the environment and results in a lot of smoke that pollutes the air within the centre.

In addition, a new facility is needed to store food stock and cooking materials. The vegetable garden and chicken farm at the centre produce a good amount of food that needs to be stored in a hygienic and safe way.
